An application can be made at the Jan Suvidha Kendras to get the name added, deleted or corrected the mistake of address in the voter list by paying the prescribed fee.

A Voter ID, also known as EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card), is a photo identity card issued by the Election Commission of India to all Indian citizens of India to vote. Voter ID is intended to serve as an identity proof for voters, increase efficiency, and prevent impersonation and fraud during free and fair democratic elections. This card is also commonly known as electoral card, voter card or voter ID card.

The General Election 2022 is approaching in the month of April-May, and thus, it is an opportunity to choose the government which is going to run the country for the next five years. The Election Commission of India provides online voter registration for Indian citizens above the age of 18 years. An Indian citizen can enroll himself as a general voter and fill Form 6 online on the National Voters’ Service Portal.

A voter ID card is an accepted form of personal identification in India as it is issued by a government body. Voter ID card contains the following details:-

• a unique serial number
• cardholder’s photo
• A hologram bearing the respective state/national emblem
• Name of card holder
• Card holder’s father’s name
• gender
• Card holder’s photo
• card holder’s date of birth

The residential address of the card holder and the signature of the issuing authority (Electoral Registration Officer) are on the reverse side of the voter ID card.

How to apply online for new voter ID card 2022 ?

Applicants can apply offline or online to register their name in voter list and obtain voter ID card. Those who are eligible can follow the procedure given below to apply online:-

• Step I: Visit the official website :- Applicants must first visit www.nvsp.in.
• Step II: Click on the respective tab :- On the homepage, candidates have to click on “Apply online for registration of new voters” i.e. Form 6

• Step III: Fill the details :- NVSP Form 6 will appear on the screen and applicants now have to fill all the details in the space provided. They have to enter personal details, present address, permanent address, other required specifications and also upload required documents.

• Step IV: Declaration :- Once they have filled the details carefully, they have to fill the declaration and click on “replies”. Voter ID card will be issued to the voters after verification of all the details and documents. They can track the NVSP application status by following the above procedure.

Note: The application form can be filled in either Hindi or English.

Documents required for the application of Voter ID :- Applicants must have the following documents with them before applying –

• Identity Proof – It can be PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Passport or Driving License
• passport size photograph of the applicant
• Address Proof – It can be Passport, PAN Card or Driving License

• Applicants can now track their Voter ID application status online whenever they want.
• Those who are eligible and those who have not applied can apply online.
• They have to fill all the exact details in the application form. For that, they can refer to their respective documents.
• Applicants are advised to keep their reference ID safe so that they can easily track the application status without any hassle.
• Applicants are advised to fill all the details correctly in the NVSP application form at the time of registration. They should fill all the details with utmost care, however, they can make corrections and necessary changes in the application details by filling the relevant details.
• The voter card will be issued only after verification of all the documents and information provided.

• You can also enroll offline. Fill two copies of Form 6. This form is also available free of cost in the offices of Electoral Registration Officers/ Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers.

• Step 1: Visit the site of the State Election Officer.
• Step 2 : View and Download Form EPIC-002 (Each state has different format)
• Step 3 : Fill this form and attach required documents like FIR, Address and Identity proof
• Step 4: Submit the application form to the nearest election office
• Step 5: On successful submission collect the reference number.
• Step 6 : Upon verification, your application moves to the next level.
• Step 7 : You can track Duplicate Voter ID card application status online through the link given above.
• Step 8 : When ready you will receive duplicate Voter ID card SMS. Visit the electoral office to collect it.
