The above recommendations were implemented in the year 1947 under the Chief Agricultural Engineer. Irrigation work was done by dividing the state into three zones, whose headquarters were made Meerut, Kanpur and Varanasi. Objective of Small Agriculture Irrigation Scheme

Grants received under the Small Agriculture Irrigation Scheme

Under this scheme, farmers will get caste wise grant which is as follows:-

• Grant for small and marginal farmers of general caste:- In this scheme, the maximum limit of subsidy on boring for small and marginal farmers of general category is fixed at Rs 5000 and Rs 7000 respectively. The holding limit is fixed at 0.2 hectares for general beneficiaries. It is not mandatory to install a pump set on boring of general category farmers, but a maximum grant of Rs 4500 for small farmers and Rs 6000 for marginal farmers is permissible on setting up a pump set.
• Grant for SC/ST Farmers :- The maximum limit of grant on boring for SC/ST beneficiaries is fixed at Rs.10,000. There is no restriction of minimum holding limit and no compulsion to install pumpset. Additional facility of providing material like reflex valve, delivery pipe, bend etc. is also available within the limit of Rs. A maximum grant of Rs.9000 is permissible for setting up a pumpset.
• Grant for HDPE Pipes:- From the year 2012-13, with a view to prevent wastage of water and increase the efficiency of irrigation, 25 percent of the beneficiaries of the total target should be allowed a grant of 50 percent of the cost and maximum Rs 3000 for setting up 90mm size HDPE pipe of minimum 30m to maximum 60m. Provision has been made to leave. Permission has also been given for installation of HDPE pipe of 110 mm size from 22 March 2016.
• Grant for purchase of Pumpset :- Under the free boring scheme, the loan limit for pumpsets of various horsepower has been fixed by NABARD, under which loan facility is available for purchase of pumpsets through banks. There is also a system to purchase cash pumpsets from district wise registered pumpset dealers. Grant is admissible on purchasing ISI Mark Pumpset by adopting either of the two options.
