UP Dignity Kit Scheme 2022
The Uttar Pradesh government will soon launch a new Dignity Kit scheme under the ambitious Mission Shakti Abhiyan. The new Garima Kit Distribution Scheme will serve as a relief aid to women/adolescents affected by floods and other calamities. Each unit of the Dignity Kit will contain certain items that are listed in this article.
In another thoughtful act under the ambitious “Mission Shakti” campaign, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the distribution of “Dignity Kits”. The primary objective of the UP Dignity Kit scheme would be to provide relief assistance to women/adolescents affected by floods and other calamities.

List of Items in UP Dignity Kit Scheme
All women and young women living in relief camps due to floods or any other reason will be provided Garima Kits by Yogi Adityanath-led UP government. The cost of one unit of Dignity kit to the state government will be Rs 360 which will consist of the following items:-
- Sanitary Pads (20)
- bath soap (2)
- laundry soap (2)
- towel (1)
- Cotton fabric (1 meter)
- Disposable Bags (20)
- bucket with lid (1)
- mug (1)
- Mask (2)
All the material will be kept in a bag which will have the monogram of the UP government printed on one side with the words “Dignity Kit”. The other party will have a list of articles in the bag. A local officer will be made the nodal officer for the preparation and distribution of these sacks in each district. In view of the prolonged rains in Uttar Pradesh, a new provision of providing dignity kit has been included in Mission Shakti.

CM Yogi Adityanath’s initiative to deal with natural calamities
Apart from the Dignity kit, the state government led by CM Yogi Adityanath has also directed the officials to provide the following things to the women:-
- adequate supply of drinking water
- dry food packets
- medicines
- Clothes
- Utensil
- bed
All these items will be provided to women to enable them to fight against natural calamities by following the COVID-19 protocols. With a view to be fully equipped to deal with any natural calamity in future, the Yogi government is preparing a robust system to prevent damage and help people during rain, hailstorm and floods in Uttar Pradesh.
Expansion of Aap Mitra and Aapda Sakhi Schemes
The UP government, in collaboration with the State Disaster Management Authority, is all set to expand its Aapda Mitra and Aapda Sakhi schemes in 25 districts of the state. “Aapda Mitras” and “Aapda Sakhi” will be provided with flood protection equipment, safety kits and training to deal with any disaster.
Under the UP Dignity Kit scheme, people will be provided assistance to deal with natural calamities like rain, cloudburst, hailstorm etc. It is noteworthy that in the last five years, with the efforts of the Yogi government, the Center and Relief Helpline 1070 were established under the supervision of the State Level Emergency Relief Commissioner’s office. Apart from this, to keep the relief helpline operational round the clock, 15 call centers are also running in the state.
