The Government of India has started a new scheme named Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) 2019 by merging two schemes to be operated till 2008, Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Program (REGP). Its main objective is to create employment opportunities by setting up micro-enterprises in urban and rural areas.

If you want to start your business and you do not have the capital, then you can take a loan from the bank to open your business under this program. At the national level, the scheme is being implemented by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory organization under the administrative control of the Ministry of MSME as a nodal agency. At the state level, the scheme will be implemented through State KVIC Directorate, State Khadi and Village Entrepreneurs Board (KVIB) and District Industries Center (DIC) and Banks.

If you want to do business for the service sector then you will get a loan up to Rs 15 lakh and for the manufacturing sector loan up to Rs 25 lakh will be given. Government subsidy under the scheme will be identified through the bank by KVICs for final distribution to the beneficiaries/entrepreneurs in their bank accounts.

Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program is a subsidy program of the Government of India which is being run by Khadi Rural Industries Corporation at the national level across the country. The scheme was inaugurated on 15 August 2008. Any unemployed who is 8th or 10th or ITI pass, those people who have government recognized 6 months technical course are eligible for a loan in this scheme. So far more than 20 lakh people have got employment under this scheme.

The objective of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program

• To create continuous and sustainable employment opportunities in rural and urban areas of the country
• To provide continuous and permanent employment to a large section of the rural and urban unemployed youth, both traditional and prospective artisans, in the country through the establishment of micro-enterprises.
• To facilitate the participation of financial institutions for higher credit flow to the micro sector.
• Contribute to increasing the daily income potential of the artisans and increasing the rural and urban employment rates.

Features of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program

• This scheme is supported by KVIC and State/UT Khadi and V.I. Board in the ratio of 30:30:40 between KVIC/KVIB/DIC through Board in rural areas and District Industry Centers in urban and rural areas respectively.
• No income limit for setting up projects.
• Assistance under the scheme is available only for new units to be set up.
• Existing units or units already availed by any Govt. Not eligible for the pmegp subsidy schemes either under the state/central government.
• Any industry which includes coir based projects which are mentioned in the negative list.
• The per capita investment should not exceed Rs 1.00 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.50 lakh in hilly areas.
• The maximum project cost is Rs.25.00 lakhs in the manufacturing sector and Rs.10.00 lakhs in the service sector.

Online Application form for Individual under PMEGP loan

• For a PMEGP loan, first, you need to visit the official website of kvi https://www.kviconline.gov.in/ will go on.
• Then click on PMEGP.

• After that click on the PMEGP e-portal.

• Now the application form will open in front of you. Fill all the information asked in it correctly.

• After filling out the form click on Save Applicant Data.
• After this take a printout of your form and submit it to your nearest kvic/KVIB or DIC under which you have applied for the loan. There will be an interview process by the nodal agency chosen by kvic / dic / kvib.
• Before the interview talk to the banks that are ready to lend for your project get a communication letter from the bank and present in the interview
• If your project is selected it will be sent to the bank, submit all the required documents to the bank.
• The bank will process the application they will inspect your project location, the bank will approve the loan. Will take subsequent approval from the bank and submit in kvic/kvib/dic
• Receive EDP training, EDP training submit training certificate to kvic/kvib/dic and bank
• Your subsidy will be sent by the government to the bank.

Online Application form for Non-individual under PMEGP Loan

• To apply for a PMEGP loan as a non-individual you need to visit the PMEGP portal by clicking on the link given below.
• After reaching the PMEGP portal, you have to click on the ‘online application form for the non-individual button shown on the screen.

• After clicking on the button a window with the list of various organizations will be shown. You have to select the type of organization for which you are applying for the loan.

• After selecting the organization a window will be shown with the registration form and you have to fill in all the details about that organization where applicable.

• After filling the form, click on save details and take a printout of the application form. Then submit the form to the nearest office.
