PM Shramik Setu Portal/ Mobile App
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is planning to launch Shramik Setu Portal/Mobile App for migrant workers. The new portal will help the laborers to get the details of various welfare schemes run by the central and respective state governments. According to this, workers will be able to apply online to take advantage of various Modi government’s welfare schemes targeting laborers.

This Shramik Setu Portal/App will be an initiative of Union Ministry of Labor and Employment and likely to be launched in July 2020. According to government sources, the Shramik Setu project has already been approved by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). All those people who are working in the unorganized sector will have to register on the portal using their Aadhar or Bank Account Number. Workers in the unorganized sector will have to fill in the details such as their name, age, place of origin, where they live and what they do for that state.

Shramik Setu Portal / App Launched by PM Modi
It is expected that Shram Setu Portal and a new app will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2020. In this Shramik Setu Project, workers of the unorganized sector will be able to apply online and take advantage of central government insurance. and pension plans. This includes labor welfare schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and PM Shram Yogi Maan-Yojana (PMSYM). If the migrant workers move to a different city or state, then such migrant workers will also be able to update their status.
Registration on New Shramik Setu Portal
Basically, there will be self registration of workers on Shramik Setu Portal. The new Shramik Setu project will include data of all migrant/unorganized sector workers. Once these laborers are registered, they will be able to see the various welfare schemes run by the states and how to avail them. The PM Modi Shramik Setu initiative is the most recent among the measures taken by the Modi government since 25 March 2020.

As soon as the portal becomes functional, Shramik Setu app will also be available on Google play store from the same day. People will be able to download Shramik Setu App from Google Play Store (Android users) and Apple App Store (i-Phone iOS users). Workers can download the app on their mobile phones or visit the Common Service Centers / e-Suvidha Kendras set up at Panchayat level for registration. Common Service Centers have them to help the employees who are not literate.
The new Shramik Setu portal as well as the mobile app will provide great help to the workers. All these laborers will have to register and apply and the pension will be transferred to their bank account. People can also register their complaints on Shremi Setu App. The Labor Ministry has already laid the groundwork for the Shramik Setu project. National Informatics Center will set up the portal. Initially, the plan was to give each migrant worker an identification number. But the PMO ruled saying that there was no need for the second number. To help the workers of the unorganized sector, there should be just Aadhar card.
