Haryana government is going to launch a new Kisan Mitra scheme for the farmers having land up to 2 acres. This new scheme will enable farmers to take advantage of various welfare schemes already launched. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has directed the officials to prepare the Kisan Mitra Yojana at the earliest.

The State Government will focus on speedy implementation of the Livestock Credit Card Scheme on the lines of Kisan Credit Card (KCC). These new Pashu-Dhan Credit Cards will boost milk production and make Haryana one of the leading states in per capita milk production. CM Khattar gave these instructions while presiding over the review meeting of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department on 6 June 2020.

Haryana Kisan Mitra Scheme
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, especially the small and marginal farmers have suffered a lot. Despite the assistance being provided under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and other farmer welfare schemes, they need to be provided assistance. So to enable the small and marginal farmers (for cultivating land up to 2 acres) Haryana State Government will start Kisan Mitra Scheme. Kisan Mitra will work as Kisan Mitra and help them to get benefits of many welfare schemes for which these farmers are eligible.
Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and HS Joint Vaccine Program (Pilot Project) for Cow, Buffalo in Haryana, PM Modi Common Livestock Disease Control Scheme [एफएमडी और ब्रुसेलोसिस] has been successful in In the last 1 year, no case of foot and mouth disease has been reported in the state. Now the state will get an additional grant of Rs 15 crore for this programme. There are about 36 lakh milk producing milch animals in Haryana and the milk productivity per capital is 1,087 grams. Haryana state is second only to Punjab in milk production.

CM Manohar Lal Khattar had already dissolved the farmers’ clubs formed before 1 April 2017 in the state. Only those clubs that have been formed will retain the last 3 years with the proper election. It is the responsibility of the farmers’ clubs to provide information about the welfare schemes of the state government directly to the farmers. Accordingly, Kisan Clubs were formed after 1st April 2017 and the new ones that were formed would serve this purpose.
Haryana Livestock Credit Card Scheme
Under the Pashudhan Credit Card scheme, the animal keeper will get the assistance of up to Rs 3 lakh in the form of a loan. Assistance will be provided for rearing buffalo, cow, sheep, goat, pig, chicken, and broiler animals among others.
3.68 lakh cattle tagged in Haryana
Around 4.5 lakh animals have been kept in Gaushalas in the state of Haryana, out of which 3.68 lakh have been tagged. In the state, around 16 lakh families having productive cattle have been tagged. Around 8,400 animals have been sent to various gaushalas during Covid-19. Every animal in the state of Haryana should be tagged, be it from a Gaushala or an individual animal guard.
To provide the tagging information online, the work on the website is almost complete. Apart from Gaushalas, separate Nandishalas are also being constructed. For this purpose, the model of low-cost Nandishalas constructed in Banwali and Matana villages of Fatehabad district will be adopted. About 15 lakh rupees have been spent on the construction of a Nandishala and this work has been done by the Haryana Livestock Development Board.

The government will make schemes to increase the income of small farmers from animal husbandry and other agriculture-related sectors. Geographically, Haryana is the most suitable place to meet the daily needs of about 5 crore population in and around Delhi. Daily needs include fruits, flowers, vegetables, milk, eggs, meat. The farmers of Haryana should capture this market and move in this direction. The main objective is to realize PM Narendra Modi’s dream of doubling farmer’s income by 2022.
