Digital Voter ID Card

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card) on 25 January 2021. The digital voter ID card download process has been started from the National Voters’ Day. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched e-EPIC program and distributed digital voter ID cards to 5 new voters.

This will be the first time that the government is issuing voter ID cards in digital format. Other identity proofs like Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving license are already available in digital format.

Digital Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) Features

Here are the important features of Digital Voter ID Card or e-EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card):-

• E-EPIC is a non-editable secure PDF version.
• In the first phase, only new voters who have applied for their voter card and registered their mobile number with the Election Commission are able to download their digital voter ID card.
• From February 1, 2021, all voters will be able to download their digital copy, provided their phone numbers are linked with the Election Commission.
• Voters whose phone numbers are not linked will have to get it done to avail the download facility.
• The digital voter ID cards will be in PDF format.
• New voters will also get a hard copy of their voter ID card.
• The digitization is to ensure that there is no delay in getting the voter ID card as it takes time to print the physical card and reach the voter. Its idea is to provide fast delivery and easy access to the document.
• Digital Voter ID cards can be stored in DigiLocker.
• The digital card will have a secure QR code.
• The e-version of the voter card is being launched to commemorate the anniversary of the Election Commission.
• Digital Voter ID card or e-EPIC can be downloaded on mobile phone or personal computer.

How to Download Digital Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) on NVSP Portal

Given below is the complete procedure to download Digital Voter ID Card or e-EPIC through NVSP portal in online mode:-

• First official National Voters Service Portal https://www.nvsp.in/ Go to
• on homepage, Download e-EPIC option is present and is non-clickable, so to avail this facility you need to first register/login on the NVSP portal.

How to Download Digital Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) on ECI Voter Portal

Given below is the complete procedure to download Digital Voter ID Card or e-EPIC through online mode:-

• First Official ECI Voter Portal https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ Go through the link.
• Here you can use the following features – Enroll to vote, Check my enrollment, Update my details, Find my polling station, Know my BLO, Download e-EPIC.
• To use these facilities including Digital Voter ID card download, you need to login and register:-

• Here applicants can login with mobile number, email id or voter id number and password or can log in with social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, LinkedIn. Simply login to use the Digital Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) download facility.

The download facility is available from 11.14 am on 25 January 2021. People can now easily check name in National Voter List 2021 online and download digital voter ID card. Those who are new voters or who still do not have Indian Voter ID Card, they can check nvsp.in or voterportal.eci.gov.in You can fill the online application.

Launch of Digital Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) Initiative

E-Elector Photo Identity Card is the non-editable digital version of Voter’s Photo Identity Card and can be saved in facilities like Digital Locker and printed in PDF format. This is in addition to the physical ID being issued for new registration. The e-EPIC initiative has been launched in two phases.

Step 1 of Digital Voter ID Card Download

In the first phase from January 25 to 31, all new voters who have applied for voter ID card and registered their mobile number in Form-6 will be able to download e-EPIC by simply authenticating their mobile number. The mobile number must be unique and must not have been previously registered in the ECI’s voter list.

Step 2 of Digital Voter ID Card Download

The second phase will start from February 1. It will be open to general voters. All those who have given their mobile number (a linked one) can also download their e-EPIC. A digital version of the Voter’s Photo Identity Card can be accessed through the Voter Helpline App and the websites https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and https://www.nvsp.in/.

Who launched the e-EPIC initiative

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched the e-EPIC programme. The central government has distributed e-EPIC and voter photo identity cards to five new voters. It also comes ahead of assembly elections in five states – West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It takes time to print the physical card and reach the voter and the idea is to provide faster delivery and easy access to the document.

Aadhar Card, Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card and Driving License are already available in digital mode. Introduced in 1993, voter photo IDs are accepted as proof of identity and address. The e-version of the voter card is being launched to commemorate the anniversary of the Election Commission.

National Voters’ Day Theme

The theme of this year’s NVD is to make our voters empowered, alert, safe and informed. It envisages active and participatory voters during elections. It also focuses on ECI’s commitment to conduct elections safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year since 2011 on 25 January to mark the foundation day of ECI all over the country i.e. 25 January 1950. The main objective of NVD Utsav is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrollment, especially new voters.

Download National Voter ID Card

Citizens need to include their name in voter list and must check their name in downloaded voter list with photo to cast their important vote. NVSP Seva Portal is a major initiative of the Election Commission to ease the process of obtaining Voter ID Card, Check Status, Apply for Addition / Delete / Amendment of Name in Electoral Roll and Print out Voter ID Card.

Indian Voter ID Registration – Name Included in CEO Voter List

All new voters whose name is not in the voter list and unable to download voter ID card can apply online for new voter ID card:-

• Here new voters have to enter their details correctly and upload their recent photograph, age proof and address proof before clicking on the “Submit” button below.

After submitting the registration form, candidates will get the registration ID. On getting the final approval by the concerned authorities, the name of the citizen will be included in the CEO voter list. Citizens are also entitled to amend the voter list by – deletion in voter list , Objection (Form 7) And Correction in Voter List Entries (Form 8), After making the correction people can download the duplicate voter ID card.

Check Name in Indian Voter List (Voter List) with Name and Epic Number

Citizens can now check their name online whether it is in the voter list or not. The process of searching name in voter list is as follows:-

• Direct Link – Candidates can directly find their name online through “Search by Name & Other Details” or “Search by EPIC Number” link – http://electoralsearch.in/
• Name search page using “Details” or “EPIC Number” will appear as follows:-

• Here candidates can directly enter their EPIC Number (Identity Card Number) or search through Name, District, Gram Panchayat and other details.

This site http://electoralsearch.in/ will also inform citizens about their booth, assembly constituency, List of Booth Level Officers (BLO), ERO etc.

Voter List PDF Download – State Wise Voter List

All the candidates can directly download the complete voter list state wise or district wise or gram panchayat wise. In order to download the voter ID card, citizens need to do a manual search in the Indian Electoral Roll (PDF) file. This complete voter list is available on the official website:-

• On the homepage, select the state name to get state wise PDF voter list link

After finding their name and serial number in the list, candidates can download their voter ID card.

Check Voter ID Status
