Apple has revealed an revamped MacBook Pro, which comes with a 14-inch display, Apple’s new M1 Pro and Max chips, a notch and a larger range of ports as well as the standard Thunderbolt ports. It adds the HDMI port as well as the SD card reader. It also includes the MagSafe 3-port connector to charge (though it is also possible to charge it via one of the Thunderbolt ports if your home is full of the USB-C bricks that power your devices). The price starts at $1,999 and is available to purchase “today.”
It sports it’s 14.2″ 120 Hz ProMotion MiniLED display that Apple has branded in the form of “Liquid Retina ProXDR.” It sports smaller bezels than the previous generation , and also comes with the notch, which has a webcam with 1080p resolution, but does not include the Apple FaceID system. The 14-inch model has a resolution of 3024 by 1964. It can be set at a sustained brightness of 1000 nits as well as 1600 nits at peak.
You can set up the 14-inch MacBook Pro with Apple’s new M1 Pro or M1 Max chips. Both have 10 CPU cores. The Pro can come with either a 16- or 14-core GPU and the Max comes with 32 and 24-core GPU options. The latest MacBook Pro comes with 16GB of RAM, but you can increase it to 32GB via an M1 Pro, or 64 GB on M1 Max. M1 Max.
Alongside the new (well returning) ports The 14-inch MacBook Pro ads a third Thunderbolt port, which is different from its 13-inch equivalent. Its Thunderbolt ports now are Thunderbolt 4, an upgrade from the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the earlier models.
This marks the very first significant change in Apple’s professional laptop lineup since the year when it saw the introduction of a flimsy butterfly keyboard as well as The Touch Bar, and Thunderbolt 3 as the sole and standard kind of port (with one exception, a headphone port obviously). Also, it is the first time that the 14-inch size screen that is mid-sized, that Apple hasn’t offered on laptops since the Ebook G4 in 2005. However, this laptop appears to be an update from Apple in 2016 — the revamp shook off the ports and the ports are now back. Apple also introduced an Touch Bar in 2016, and it’s changed to a new set of functions keys.
It’s refreshing to be able to see Apple distinguishing the MacBook Pros that are smaller. The range has been somewhat confusing over the last few years The dual-port MacBook Pro and four-port 13-inch computers were clumped together, yet they were essentially distinct computers that had different processors and costs. Today, the screen is what makes the difference clear those who want portability can opt for an Air as well as the 13-inch Pro and the 14-inch Pro is available to those who want greater performance.
