Haryana government is soon going to launch One Block One Product Scheme to encourage and promote small industries in rural areas. Under the OBOP scheme, the state government is planning to connect every block of the state with some industrial point of view and the government is working fast on this plan. The state of Haryana produces 67 percent of the total cars made in India. About 60% motorcycles and 50% tractors are manufactured in the state of Haryana. Apart from this, about 50 percent of the refrigerators used in homes are also made in the state. About 60% of the total export of Basmati rice also comes from the state of Haryana. The state government has formulated a new One Block One Product Scheme to promote and recognize its products at national/international level. The new Haryana One Block One Product Scheme will also help in providing a market for the sale of locally manufactured products.

OBOP on the lines of One District One Focus Product Scheme
PM Narendra Modi has earlier launched a similar scheme at the national level named One District One Focus Product Scheme. The objective of this ODOFP scheme is to promote the business of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at every level. Haryana government has gone 2 steps ahead and is going to launch one block one product scheme instead of one district one product scheme.
To give a further boost to the One Block One Product scheme, the state government will take it to the block level in rural areas as well. OBOP scheme will be started in 140 blocks of the state, in which arrangements for common service, lab testing, packaging, transportation, accountancy will be made in the cluster itself.

Benefits of one block one product plan
One Block One Product Scheme will encourage small entrepreneurs working in rural areas and enable them to compete with large industries. The state government has already given a target to the team of officers constituted for the implementation of OBOP scheme. The team started work on selection of products by segregating 137 blocks.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that in the last one year, the “One District, One Product” scheme of Haryana being implemented under MSMEs has emerged as a model in the whole country. Not only this, the central government has also adopted it in its budget. A similar scheme UP One District One Product Scheme is running in the state of Uttar Pradesh under the Yogi Adityanath-led state government.
