WB Chokher Alo Scheme 2022
WB Chokher Alo Scheme has been launched by the Government of West Bengal on 5th January 2021. This is another big initiative after the Doer Duar Paschim Banga government and the Pare Paray Samadhan Yojana. In this scheme, the state government will provide free eye treatment and glasses to the senior citizens.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the launch of WB Chokher Alo Yojana. This scheme will ensure free of cost cataract operation and eye treatment for senior citizens. The new Chokher Alo scheme has been discontinued from 5 January 2021. The Free Eye Treatment Project has started recently to take the benefits of the schemes of the Government of West Bengal to the people.

Free Eye Treatment / Glasses to Senior Citizens
CM Mamta Banerjee has announced that WB Chokher Alo scheme targeting eyes for all by 2025. The West Bengal government has set a target to conduct cataract operations for 20 lakh senior citizens. The WB government will provide free glasses to 8.25 lakh elderly people, who will undergo the operation.
The West Bengal state government will also conduct eye tests for 10 lakh students, out of which 4 lakh will get free spectacles. Apart from the students, Anganwadi workers will also get the opportunity to take the test free of cost. More than 300 doctors and 400 optometry technicians will be engaged for this work.
First phase of Chokher Aal Yojana
WB Chokher Aloe Scheme Phase 1 has been started from 5th January 2021. Around 1200 gram panchayats and 120 primary health centers will be covered in this phase 1. The remaining 2 steps will cover the remaining GPs and PHCs. CM Mamata Banerjee also inaugurated an advanced trauma-care facility equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. The Rs 10 crore unit will have 20 beds, two operation theaters and a 10-bed recovery room. An orthopedic surgeon and a neurosurgeon will care for emergency patients.
The CM even said that the first trauma care center was built at SSKM Hospital but since the people of North Bengal were deprived of benefits, this second center was developed. Meanwhile, Banerjee had submitted her Swasthya health card from a “Door Sarkar” camp on Harish Mukherjee Street. CM has a mediclaim policy of Rs 3 lakh which was bought by his brother a long time back. Though she is not using it, she thought I should have a government health card like other people in my state.
